As one of the Bay Area Panthers’ defensive mainstays, Tevaughn Grant is returning to the Indoor Football League in 2025. This will be Grant’s third year with Bay Area, as he first joined for the historic 2023 season.
Notably, Grant has high familiarity with Panthers Head Coach Rob Keefe’s system. The 6-foot-3 defensive end is coming off a 2024 campaign wherein he registered 26.5 tackles, six TFL and 3.5 sacks over 11 games.
2023 was Grant’s most dominant IFL year thus far. En route to an eventual Panther championship, the former CFLer produced 52.5 tackles, 14.5 TFL, seven sacks and four passes defended. Incidentally, he was selected to both the All-IFL Second Team and All-Rookie Team.
During the 2023 title game versus the Sioux Falls Storm, Grant recorded 3.5 tackles with one TFL and a blocked field goal. His efforts greatly contributed to Bay Area’s 51-41 pinnacle victory.
Prior to playing for the Panthers, Grant was with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League. Collegiately, he starred on the gridiron for Staten Island’s Wagner College.
At Wagner, Grant saw action over four seasons (2016-2019). He was especially productive for the Seahawks as a junior and senior, compiling a total of 77 tackles, 15.5 TFL, 9.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, two passes defended and one interception in 18 appearances. Grant graduated in 2020 with a degree in Biology.
Grant is a native of Paterson, NJ wherein he attended Eastside High School. He was a highly decorated student-athlete for the Ghosts, thriving along the defensive line both as a stand-up rusher and from a three-point stance. In 2015, Grant competed in the New Jersey North-South All-Star Football Classic and the Paul Robeson East-West High School All-Star Football Classic.
Vocationally, Grant keeps busy as a sports performance coach. From there, he is a creative designer, having also studied Art while at Wagner.
Upon Grant’s return to Bay Area, Coach Keefe lamented, “We are pumped to have Tevaughn back. He is a relentless pass rusher with a high motor who loves hunting quarterbacks, (...) has solid foot quickness as well as the size and strength that gives offensive lineman problems in the run and pass game.”
A fan favorite in San Jose and beyond, Grant is ready for another Bay Area-championship run in 2025.
