Reggie Gray

One of the most entertaining players indoor football has ever seen, Reggie “Big Play” Gray, joins the Bay Area Panthers in 2025. Gray will assume duties of Panthers wide receivers coach.

Bay Area fans remember Gray from his time stretching the field as a member of the AFL’s San Jose SaberCats. With San Jose, the speedy receiver was named ArenaBowl XXVIII (2015) MVP after catching nine passes for 95 yards and three scores en route to a league title.

Throughout his playing career, Gray competed for over a decade, winning two AFL championships while compiling 854 receptions for 260 touchdowns and over 10,600 yards. He was named to numerous All-Arena teams, also earning designations such as All-Ironman Team (2011), J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Year (2013) and AFL Wide Receiver of the Year (2015).

Prior to bringing his game indoors, Gray was a star-football player at Western Illinois University. Over two campaigns with the Leathernecks, he produced 13.6 yards per reception, finding the end zone on six occasions.

Gray is originally a Chicago native. He dazzled at Morgan Park High School as a receiver, returner and defensive back. His prep efforts culminated in a 2001 Chicago Public League Championship for the Mustangs, as Gray’s big play capabilities were showcased from a young age.

After starting his coaching career in 2022 with the IFL’s Massachusetts Pirates, Gray worked his way up to offensive coordinator. In 2023, Gray served as OC and asst. head coach for the Gillette Mustangs of Champions Indoor Football.

"My life has come full circle. To play [in San Jose], win a championship, and come back 10 years later to coach is an honor. It doesn't even seem real yet," Gray stated to BayAreaPanthers.com.

Gray is elated to be back in the Bay Area. He’ll join Panthers Head Coach Rob Keefe’s staff under offensive coordinator Rod Windsor.
