Panthers sign veteran kicker Scott Enos

New Panthers' kicker Scott Enos is an example of living by the motto "stay ready so you don't have to
get ready."

Enos showed what he has left at the Panthers' open tryout at San Jose State to get on the team's radar.
He was eventually signed before the Week 7 game against San Diego.

"Coach Keefe reached out to my mom first because I don't think he could find my cell phone number,"
said Enos. "She gave him my number and he left a voicemail . I couldn't believe it, to be honest with you.
I wasn't expecting that call but was happy I got it."

It's been a long road for Enos, who played at the University of Hawaii where he was named second-team
All-WAC in 2010. That season, he converted 17 of 21 field goals and all 71 of his PAT tries.

His professional career started with the Eastern Kentucky Drillers of UIFL. From Pikeville, Kentucky, Enos
advanced to the Cedar Rapids Titans of the IFL and in 2013, was the first player signed by the expansion
Bemidji Axemen.

After workouts with the San Jose Sabercats of the AFL in 2015, Enos was ready to move on to the next
phase of life. He's become an accomplished kicking instructor through CoachUp with his "real" job in
medical devices as a director of sales in the Bay Area.

By working with clients, Enos kept his leg in shape and reached out to the Panthers before their first
season in 2022 to get his name in the system.

In late February, Enos took a chance at the showcase with hopefuls from around the world. The team
had his information and things eventually fell into place. Think of the Jimmy Morris character in the
movie "The Rookie".  Dennis Quad was a high school baseball coach who still had a blazing fastball after
several arm surgeries. Morris went to an open tryout which led to a minor league contract. He
eventually made his MLB debut with the Texas Rangers at the age of 35.

"Scott has the leg, experience and professionalism for kickoffs and field goals at a high level," said Keefe.
"His professional approach to the game provides for consistency and accuracy for our special teams
unit."

The beginning of the journey for Enos started in junior high when his parents took him to a camp at UC Davis.
Enos never takes for granted their commitment to give him the chance to pursue his kicking dreams. They are near
Sacramento in Granite Bay, driving distance to the games at the SAP Center.

"I'm so thankful to have two great parents that have supported me from a really young age and got me
some of those opportunities," said Enos. "They were really excited when I told them the news. They
were pretty shocked. I can't thank them enough."
