Bay Area leads Arizona in Western Conference race

Box Score

The most efficient offense in the Indoor Football League scored touchdowns on eight consecutive possessions as the Bay Area Panthers beat the Vegas Knight Hawks 56-41 at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson.

The Panthers improved to 8-4 and a one-half game lead over Arizona in the Western Conference after completing the regular season sweep.

Justin Rankin carried the ball 17 times for 95 yards and three touchdowns and Dalton Sneed added 40 yards and two scores on the ground.

Sneed completed 6 of 10 passes for 97 yards and two scores—a 22-yard strike to Nih Jackson on the first play from scrimmage and a 46-yard strike to JT Stokes in the second quarter.

Rankin added a receiving touchdown as his tear continues—20 touchdowns scored over the last five games. His 30 rushing touchdowns are first among IFL running backs.

The Panthers led three times by 21 points but the Night Hawks battled back. In the span of 1 minutes, 10 seconds, Vegas quarterback Daquan Neal threw two scoring passes to Caleb Holley to make a 42-34 game late in the third period.

On the next series, Bay Area capped a 6-play, 38-yard drive with Sneed's 7-yard run to make it a two -score game.

The Knight Hawks (4-8) made one final charge to cut the deficit to 49-41 when Neal connected with Holley from seven yards out with 7:44 left. The key play of the drive was Neal's 41-yard scamper on 3rd and 10.

The game was put away when Stokes scored on a 1-yard run from the jet sweep for the game's final score.

Neal ended 15-30 for 178 yards and four scores—adding another 99 on the ground with two touchdowns. Eight of Neal's completions were to Holley for 103 yards and three TD's.

Opening kickoff was moved from the evening to 1:05 pm because of the Las Vegas Golden Knights' Stanley Cup Playoff parade.

The Panthers will face Frisco on the road next Saturday while Vegas plays Duke City on the road in the first of three straight games away from the Dollar Loan Center to close the season.
