The Panthers road gauntlet continues with a Saturday matinee in Henderson against the Vegas Knight Hawks.
Because of the NHL's Golden Knights' Stanley Cup parade, the IFL game was moved from the evening to a 1:05 pm start time at the Dollar Loan Center.
Bay Area is going for the season sweep and looks to at least keep of a share of first place in the Western Conference.
In the first meeting on May 6,
Dalton Sneed set a franchise record with seven touchdown passes in a 62-44 win. The Panthers established a then-team record for points in a game and jumped on the Knight Hawks with a stop on the first series and a two-score lead. Bay Area grabbed control of the game with a 27-point second quarter.
Sneed ended the night 14-17 for 170 yards and with seven scoring passes—three to
JT Stokes.Â
The Panthers will take the field with a 7-4 record, tied with Arizona for the top spot in the conference. But Bay Area has an edge in the first tiebreaker by virtue of one more conference victory.Â
The game continues a stretch of four of the final five games on the road with the final regular season home game on July 10 against San Diego.
The Knight Hawks have no margin for error with a 4-7 record with three straight losses against playoff contenders. Saturday is their final home before three straight on the road against Duke City, Tucson and San Diego.  The challenge is even more daunting when you consider Vegas is 0-4 in road games this season.
The issues of travel and the early start will make this game more challenging. Also, Vegas is 4-3 at home with a win over the Rattlers and were two missed last-second kicks from victories over San Diego and Tucson. Former MVP Daquan Neal threw five touchdown passes in the first meeting and did not have Quentin Randolph as a target because of injury. Randolph is back and one of the top receivers to contain in the league.
By the numbers, the Panthers look to establish the run behind the combo of
Justin Rankin and
Dalton Sneed—ranking third in rushing in the IFL. Vegas is last against the run but number one against the pass. But in the first meeting, Sneed shredded the Knight Hawks on a career-night that earned him the league offensive player of the week award.Â
